In previous postings, I’ve gone through the process of selecting trading models and provided some details of how the trading has gone each week. Over time, we should get a more realistic view of long term system performance.

I’ve previously reviewed FXCM’s Forex System Selector, which is an automated forex trading tool. On the surface, it seems ideal - select a model, sit back and let it trade proven models for you. In reality, I’ve had difficulty in obtaining consistent results.
Recently I’ve revisited this, and have used a new feature, portfolio selection. This has some preselected combination of trading systems. This posting is about how the selected portfolio has traded during the first week.
In previous postings, I tested the FXCM Forex System Selector. This system automatically trades forex on your behalf using black box trading models that you have selected. Theoretically this could be like having your own ATM in your living room producing constant trading profits.

This article is an update of progress with the second month of testing of FXCM’s Forex System Selector. In previous articles, I’ve gone through the selection process for choosing some trading models, but this article is about how the selected models are trading to date.
The new selection of trading models for the second trial of FXCM’s Forex System Selector have been active for 5 days (including a weekend). This article is an update on performance so far.
This article reports the first results for the new trial of FXCM’s Forex System Selector.
The first round of testing of testing of the FXCM Forex System Selector is now finished, with a end profit of $1200 after 5 weeks of trading, on a $100,000 investment. The trial account has been closed, so it is time to move to a new trial.
Of course, one month is too short a time period to measure the performance of these models - it can only give an idea of the risk profile of the system. But many investors will want to try out this new tool, and a real time test does give some idea of what can be expected in the short term.
In the last article in this series, I demonstrated how some simple filtering can be used to prepare a short list of models for further evaluation. I mainly looked for models with a good long term track record, and ended up with 9 models that looked promising. This article is about the processes I have used to further fine tune this selection to build a final trading system.
This article is a followup on my series on automated trading using FXCM’s Forex System Selector. My trial of this product is now into its fifth week of a one month trial. I expect that access to the system will cease in the next few days.
My goal for the next month is to select a different range of trading models. This article shows how you can use the historical performance data in the Forex System Selector and filter the large number of models (530 models are available) down to a manageable number for incorporation into your trading system.
